Gib Stopping
Gib stopping and painting for a new house extension on a sheep station in Middlemarch. We stopped the new Gib, prepared and painted the extension, including a feature wall in the lounge. Winter conditions made drying times challenging, but we worked carefully around the cold and snow. Completed in around two weeks, the new extension tied in beautifully with the existing home and left the owners happy.
This one took us out to a sheep station in Middlemarch, a fair drive from Dunedin especially in the middle of winter. The job was to Gib stop and paint a new house extension on the sheep station.
The work itself was straightforward: stop all the new Gib, prep and paint the extension including a feature wall in the lounge. The weather made it interesting. Working out in Middlemarch during winter means dealing with a serious cold and the odd bit of snow, which slows everything down. Plaster and paint don't love the cold, so you're working around drying times and making sure everything cures properly before moving on to the next coat.
We got through it in about two weeks, which was solid given the conditions. The finished extension tied in well with the rest of the house and the owners were happy with the result.
We are based in Dunedin but travel to Middlemarch, Mosgiel and wider Otago. If you have a new build, extension or renovation that needs Gib stopping or painting, get in touch for a quote.
